All About Sovara
Sovara Sanctuary was not created from perfection. It was created through lived experience, emotional honesty and the gradual process of reconnecting with myself after years of functioning in survival mode.
For a long time, I believed strength meant continuing no matter how anxious, overwhelmed or lost I felt. I believed emotions made me weak. I believed being dependable, capable and holding everything together mattered more than listening to myself.
And from the outside, I often looked like I was coping, until I wasn't.
I was high functioning. Hard working. Always pushing forward. But internally, I was exhausted, emotionally overwhelmed and had no sense of self.
Anxiety and stress became normal. Overthinking became constant.
Self-abandonment became automatic. I spent years saying yes when I wanted to say no. Ignoring what I felt. Carrying responsibility heavily. Trying to stay strong for everyone else while deeply struggling.
Traumatic experiences, emotional pressure and self-criticism shaped far more of my life than I realised at the time. I was extremely sensitive, but I saw this as a flaw. I became highly self-aware of other people, environments and expectations, yet increasingly separated from my own needs, identity and emotional safety. So, I retreated internally.
My body reflected what my mind was trying to override for years.
Burnout, CFS and PTSD eventually forced me to stop in ways I never would have chosen for myself. And honestly, those experiences changed the direction of my life completely.
Because I realised something confronting: I did not truly know who I was underneath all the survival patterns, expectations and versions of myself I had spent years trying to maintain.
That realisation felt both painful and freeing.

Before creating Sovara Sanctuary, I spent many years working across a diverse range of industries including allied health, veterinary care, construction, retail, hospitality and childcare. I worked extensively in operational and HR management, systems development, team management, staff rehabilitation, and process improvements.
Much of that experience was fast paced, demanding and deeply challenging. While those experiences gave me practical management skills, resilience and a deeper understanding of people, it was my own journey that ultimately changed the direction of my life and the way I hold this work today.
The deeper work began when I stopped trying to simply “manage” myself and became willing to understand myself differently.
For years, I worked on the surface layers of things. I could analyse myself endlessly. I could intellectualise my emotions and keep functioning through almost anything. But underneath it all, I still never felt truly safe enough to slow down and sit with it.
To feel the grief. To acknowledge and release the trauma. To face the self-judgment and inner critic. To stop performing strength. To look honestly at the patterns, emotional pain and stories I had carried for years with compassion instead of shame.
That process was not quick, comfortable or linear. But it was real.
And I am not sharing this to seek sympathy, prove suffering or position myself as someone who has everything figured out. I share it because I know many women are living this way quietly.
High functioning on the outside. Lost underneath it all. Overthinking everything. Living in survival mode. Feeling emotionally exhausted, anxious, highly sensitive or constantly on alert.
I know what it feels like to live that way.
And I also know what begins to shift when women finally feel safe enough to reconnect with themselves more honestly, safely, compassionately and deeply.

I believe many women are not struggling because they are incapable, broken or lacking potential.
Often, they are exhausted from years of over-functioning, self-abandonment, emotional pressure, overthinking and trying to meet expectations that slowly disconnected them from themselves.
Over time, this can create patterns that affect:
emotional wellbeing
relationships
confidence
visibility
self-trust
boundaries
leadership
decision-making
and the ability to feel fully connected to life
My approach to change is grounded in the understanding that awareness alone is not always enough. Real change happens when women begin connecting differently — emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.
